Halloween Party this Week (10-29-10)

Just a quick reminder that this Friday is the club Halloween party. Be sure to show up in costume for a chance to win some sort of prize that hasn’t quite been decided yet! As usual, we’ll have way too much candy, snacks, etc.

Also Rock Band 3.

The State of DDR

It’s no secret that we’ve been having issues with our DDR setup for the last couple of weeks.  As it turns out, nobody really manufactures good pads anymore, so we’re having trouble finding a second pad to buy.  In the meantime, we’ve been trying to use Guy’s CF as a temporary replacement, but that hasn’t worked due to a faulty control box and an incompatible adapter.

Well, after spending two hours driving all over Lafayette looking for a 9 pin to 15 pin serial adapter, I finally found one.  On Amazon.  It should be here this week, which means we’ll finally have two functioning pads.  Hopefully.

Also, if anybody would like to recommend a brand of metal pad that’s still being produced, come find me at a meeting and let me know.

Flyering!

Callout is in two weeks, which means we’ll be putting down several hundred flyers this Saturday (09-04-10) at 6 PM.  Anybody interested in helping should meet out in front of CL50 at that time.

Also, if there are any artistically inclined people out there, we could really use a flyer design.  If we can’t get one, we’re going to have to use mine, and nobody wants that. Shoot me an email for details.

Regarding last Friday’s Meeting

I’d like to apologize to everybody who showed up after 8:30 Friday night.  Right around that time, we were informed that some other organization(s) had overridden our room reservations and booked the entirety of the basement and first floor of Beering.  Must be nice.

Anyway, it won’t happen again.  We’ll meet up again this Friday same time, same place.

Coming Soon: Stuff

Also things.

It’s getting close to the start of the school year, so that means it’s time for the officers to get things together and start organizing.  We’re working on it.

For now, we know that meetings will once again be on Friday nights from 7-10 in the basement of Beering.  The first meeting will be on the 27th.

Regarding the callout, we have no set date yet.  It’ll probably be a couple weeks after classes start and an hour before a meeting.  More details later.

Dues this year will be $20/year or $15/semester.  We have a lot of things to buy this year, including Rock Band 3 and a new DDR pad.

Check back later for more info.  As always, if you have a question, use the contact form.

End of the Year

Thus ends another semester of the PMGC.  Sage, our president, and Steph, our long-running treasurer, will sadly be graduating soon, so Nate ‘Omega’ Warnick will be stepping up to the plate as president, and Alex ‘Jack-of-all-Trades/Yep-I’m-still-here’ Barnett (myself) will be handling treasurer duties.  Also new to the officer’s list is David “Dave Davidson Daveson”, whose last name I honestly don’t know.  He’ll be doing the vice presidential tasks.

As for next year, we have plans.  Big, huge, undefined plans.  Just you watch.  For now though, let’s just assume we’ll be moving the meetings back to Friday.

Also I’ll be updating the member roster soon.  Sorry that’s taking so long.

See you next year!

The Crowded Basement

If you’ve been to the basement of Beering on a Thursday night in the past couple of weeks, you’ve probably noticed a huge crowd of people packing the hallway wall-to-wall.  To address some confusion, I’ll just clarify that they’re not us, they’re a fire hazard the BGR training people.  Due to some logistical issues, our rooms are scattered around theirs instead of being right next to each other like usual.  So, to help you guys find the correct rooms, we’re marking each of ours with a game sign.

The BGR group is usually out by 8-8:30.  If they’re in your way, just politely push past them.
